When Brett Has Been Removed, I Will Be Unstoppable

Hey, cutie! Nice to see you again. I am slowly getting my shit together in my author life, so I thought it would be a good time for a blog post.

I feel excellent today because I wrote for Beyond Atlantis every day this past week. I literally wrote while I laid on my side on the couch, barely awake at 11:30 p.m. on Friday just so I could get a 7-day streak. My word count for version 1.5 of Beyond Atlantis is now 4,077 (out of my 30,000 first-draft word goal), with two completed chapters so far. The writer's block that has been plaguing me all summer has finally gone away.

I think, for awhile, the state of the world had really been making me pessimistic - like, what's the point of trying when fascist losers are literally ruining everything I love? Recently, though, I've been able to tap into my spite, which is much more motivating. I'm trying to just live my life in a way that would piss off old white men. I'm channeling my rage into certain scenes and themes throughout my projects. I bought crayons and a sketch pad so I can create concept art, because my preschool-level doodles are better than anything I've ever seen AI create. I have a lot of ideas for social media posts, too, and this is where we get to discussing Brett.

Brett is a massive nasal polyp that I discovered this spring after I felt a weird lump in my throat and peeked in with a flashlight, then immediately thought I was dying because I could see a large white mass behind my tonsils. I immediately requested that my husband take me to urgent care, where I was given a referral to an ENT because the Urgent Care doctor didn't know what the fuck she was looking at, either. Meanwhile, I named the thing Brett after Brett Kavanaugh, because it is a useless white lump who I would like to see removed from it's current position. Several months, doctor's visits, and cameras up my nose later, I will be having surgery to remove it this Friday.

I'm extremely excited. This thing is so annoying, giving me a permanent headache and generally just making life unpleasant. My voice is so unbearably nasal that I've scrapped all social media content that I've been inspired to make over the past few months and decided to just take a bit of a break. Soon, though, my voice will be back to normal, and I will be hot on the internet to fulfill my dreams.

Until next time - stay whimsical!
